I have been leading the new Tremia team for three months at the time I am writing this reflection. Being from Bangladesh, I must admit that it required a lot of bravery for me to declare, “I want to be a team leader of 20 people,” to people I didn’t really know. because I went on the opposite team and lost contact with my buddies and comfort zone.

The Tremia Team Leader selection procedure was, I believe, a little different. To show the team how we plan to manage the team, we put on a presentation. However, the group then chose the team captain from among the tremia. To start, I would say that I was a little unsure of how I would manage a team of twenty individuals and put the puzzle pieces together.

Managing the team entails overseeing each member’s academic work and classes, inspiring them, serving as the team’s go-to person for problems, and mediating a number of issues on my end.

Initially, I must admit that I was uncertain about how I would manage a team of such size and diversity. The prospect of overseeing each member’s academic work, providing guidance and support, and resolving conflicts seemed like a daunting task. However, I knew that I had to approach this challenge with an open mind and a willingness to learn.

As I began my journey as the leader of the Tremia team, I quickly realized that effective leadership goes beyond just delegating tasks and making decisions. It requires empathy, communication, and a genuine desire to see each member succeed. I made it a priority to establish open lines of communication with my team, encouraging them to voice their concerns, ideas, and aspirations.

In the last few months, our team has accomplished a lot. We have hosted students from Switzerland, completed an ice coffee project, and are soon planning our first mökkipaja. The majority of the team members finished their essays for the essay bank; many teams are in charge of various areas.

We have teams dedicated to finance, learning, communication, and team building. Our paperwork is completed. One of the most rewarding aspects of leading the Tremia team has been witnessing the growth and development of each member. From guiding them through challenging academic assignments to providing mentorship and support, I have had the opportunity to play a role in shaping their journey. Seeing them overcome obstacles, achieve their goals, and flourish as individuals has been incredibly fulfilling.

Of course, leading a team is not without its challenges. There have been moments of conflict, setbacks, and doubt along the way. However, I have learned to approach these challenges with resilience and a determination to find solutions. Whether it’s mediating disputes, adjusting our strategies, or seeking guidance from mentors, I have embraced every obstacle as an opportunity to learn and grow.

In conclusion, leading the Tremia team has been a transformative experience that has pushed me out of my comfort zone and tested my abilities as a leader. It has been a journey filled with challenges, triumphs, and invaluable lessons. As I continue to navigate this role, I am committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where each member can thrive and achieve their fullest potential.
