A few essays worth reading and I recently left comments on:

PROAKATEMIA THROUGH THE EYES OF AN ASIAN STUDENT by Viragi Gunasekara

My comment:

This is a great essay. I admire your courage and story. This essay in itself shows how much you have learned at Proakatemia already. If we only seek education to fill future job requirements, it’s like crafting a cog for a piece of machinery, but once the machinery is rebuilt there is a good chance that the cog won’t fit anymore. Personally, I see it as a very short-term vision.
Ability to reflect as you did, and build confidence in your own voice and worth is much more valuable in the long term.
I wish you luck on your Proakatemia journey and see you around!

CONSUME OR BE CONSUMED by Ella Muja and Doneé Barendze
My comment:

It’s great to see essays that question the consumption among people. Let it be real tangible goods consumptions or services like social media that serve us as communicators, entertainment platforms, sales platform and what not. Link between pandemic and social media use is interesting, I’m going to look more how these two influence our resilience and coping mechanisms. At least in the academic community, pandemic showed lack of resilience among young people. Many struggled with everyday activities, covid19 was to blame, but was it the real cause?

I would be interested to read in the essay how dopamine addiction is bad for building a sustainable economy. Last part covers well the process and how dopamine spikes and lows are created, but I didn’t understand the link with sustainable economy.
What is your own opinion, should we abandon social media all in all or would moderate use of be ok?

SUMAK KAWSAY “EL BUEN VIVIR” by Omar Puebla Roldan
My comment:

Really interesting philosophy. It would be interesting to see how widely it is utilized in South America and with what results.
Is there a framework for how companies could adapt it? For example comparison with modern Western standards, like B corp, biodynamic certification, or WWF projects. Chocolate producer Pacari mentioned above is following these, has Pacari taken into account Sumak Kawsay? If so it would be interesting to see the process. Even more interesting would be to see Armo’s strategy on how to integrate this philosophy into a profitable business model, as well as how to maintain it.
This is perhaps the possibility of creating its own standard that would be developed together with the local communities and used as a benchmark for companies willing to enter Ecuador.

Good luck to Armo <3

Dynamic and entrepreneurial developer of new ideas. Focus on coaching and sustainable development.
