The word entrepreneurship is derived from the French verb “Enterprendre”. The French men who organised and led military expeditions in the early 16th century referred to as Entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurship is the act of being an entrepreneur, which can be defined as “one who undertakes innovations, finance and business insight in an effort to change innovations into economic goods”.

The terms entrepreneur, manager and owner are very much in meaning yet exhibit different representations of businesspeople who are present at the top management. An entrepreneur is a person who is the owner of a new enterprise, venture or idea and is accountable for the inherent risks and the outcome that could come onto one’s shoulder for one reason or other.

Electronic devices such as computers, mobile phones and televisions are all examples of entrepreneurial ideas that got changed into products or services. To put it in simple words entrepreneur is someone who innovates with his ability to identify opportunities which others are not able to identify and is able to make use of them. Entrepreneurs also happen to be influenced by the society. They recognize needs and fulfils them through organizing and managing resources. But not only that, they tend to influence the society by creating new enterprises.

Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Walt Disney, Netflix and the list goes on. These were all the names often heard by us people and often been a subject or topic discussed by everyone, no matter in school or in the workplace as a motivation to each other. They are a few examples of globally succeeded entrepreneurs. Their products are well known and useful. For example, Mark Zuckerberg created Facebook, Steve Jobs created Apple products, Bill Gates created Microsoft and so on. Their products were used widely by all of us around the world. The things that everyone concerned about is, the characteristics in them that make them globally succeeded entrepreneurs and so well known.

It is known that most of the successful entrepreneurs come in various ages, income levels, gender, and race. All though they differ in education and experience, studies show that they all have similarities in their characteristic such as creativity, dedication, flexibility, leadership style, passion and self- confidence These all attributes make them stand out of the crowd.

Creativity. In today’s world competitive business environment requires companies to constantly innovate, learn, question and to think outside of box.

Dedication. Success can be achieved by conscious effort and dedication. That is what motivates us to work hard, 12 hours a day, even seven days a week, especially in the beginning to get the idea off the ground. It includes persistence and the ability to bounce back after rough times.

Flexibility. It is important for entrepreneur to know when a situation demands changes, and it is even more important for one to use flexibility in order to correct all kinds of mistakes for example. It is also the ability to move quickly in response to changing, market needs. For example, if you’re an entrepreneur who started a fancy shop selling only French pastries. But customers wanted to buy muffins as well. Rather than risking the loss of these customers, the entrepreneur modified her vision to accommodate these needs.

Leadership. It is the ability to create rules and to set goals. It is the capacity to follow through to see that rules are followed, and goals are accomplished.

Passion.  is what gets entrepreneurs started and keeps them there. It gives entrepreneurs the ability to convince others to believe in their vision. It can’t substitute for planning, but it will help them to stay focused and to get others to look at their plans.

Every entrepreneur has these qualities. But what if a person lacks one or more? Many skills can be learned. Or, someone can be hired who has strengths that the entrepreneur lacks. The most important strategy is to be aware of strengths and to build on them.
