What makes a good logo?

Keep it simple 

A simples solution is often effective. Why?

Simplicity helps a design de more versatile. Taking in a minimalist approach enables your logo to be used across a wide range of media, such as on business cards, billboards, websites, badges, corporative papers. Exist so many places where you can print your logo, in metal, glass, wood, plastic, and if your logo is too complex, will be difficult to print in different places.


Many designers made the mistake of not paying much attention that the logo must be practical, What is be practical? This is when the logo can print in many different materials or only one ink color. 

Simplicity aims at memorability, if you think about how our brains work you will notice is way easy to remember a single detail.  


Make it relevant

Any logo you design must de appropriate for the business it identifies. is the logo for a dentist? Then try to the fun and approach. is the logo for a gym? then try to the friendly. Is the logo for a Cancer organization? Well, a happy face will not work. 

Your design must be relevant for the industry your client and the audience to which you are catering. 

This requires deep research and investment of time. 

Without a strong understanding of the world of your client is difficult you can create a design that will help to succeed in differentiating from the closest competitor. 



Incorporate tradition 

When we talk about logos better we leave trends to the fashion industry. Trends come and go like the wind and the last thing you want to do is invest a significant amount of time and your client’s money in something will become dated almost overnight.

Longevity is the key, the logo should last for the duration of the business, it might get refined after some time to add a little refreshment, but the underlying idea should remain intact. 


Aim for distinction

A distinctive logo can be easily separated from the competition. it has a unique quality or style that accurately portrays your client’s business perspective. 

Nowadays are many logos they luck similar, the main goal is the people to recognize them and not your competition, I suggest working first in black and white ink, this will help you to create more distinctive marks since the contrast emphasizes the shape or idea.  


Commit to memory

The logo of a company is the identification of its brand. However, a brand is a wider term and includes several other dimensions. A company creates its brand over years, with its consistent service, customer satisfaction, client experience, feedback, and the reliability of its products. The logo remains throughout this journey and acts as a catalyst to the branding process.

So, why is there so much focus on the simplicity of the design? Well, it helps draw consumers’ attention more than other factors. Many consumers want to learn more about a company after seeing its simple logo. Others think that the company with a memorable logo is unique and stands out from the others.


Think small 

As much you might want to see your work plastered across billboards, don’t forget your design may also need to accommodate smaller, yet necessary applications, such as zipper pulls and clothing labels, your logo needs to be visible on a half-centimeter.

Some people make the mistake to create logos that can not be in these dimensions and is a waste of time and money because your logo needs to be everywhere is possible. 


Focus on one thing

An iconic design that stands from the crowd has just one feature to help with differentiation. that’s it. just one. not two, three, or four. you want to leave your client with just one thing. 

Many times I see logos with many things in their logo, and for me comes many questions, what do they really want to do? what do they want you to see? 

like apple and the bite. 

like flip and the p is flip. 

make your logo focus on one thing.

Trademarks can help a business to differentiate what they make, do and sell from their competitors’ offerings. Businesses can become more recognizable and attractive to consumers through the use of their exclusive names, logos, and other branding elements because no other businesses will be permitted to use such elements if they are protected by trademarks.

If you develop an invention, trademarks can help you to market what you’ve made. By using a trademarked name and logo, for instance, you can avoid the risk of others attempting to portray your product as their own.
