My Personal reflection of being a TEAM LEADER

As I sit here, gazing out the window of our apartment, a wave of nostalgia washes over me. It seems like just yesterday when I first stepped into this adventure called team leading at Proakatemia. Little did I know, it would turn out to be one of the most challenging but transformative experiences of my life.

The role of team leading at Proakatemia was not like any other traditional leadership position I had encountered before. It wasn’t about exerting authority or making all the decisions; it was about fostering a culture of collaboration, trust, and self-directed learning. In this alternative education model, we were not mere students, but entrepreneurs in the making.

Leading a team in this unique environment meant embracing the ideals of a coach, a mentor, and a friend. Every day was an opportunity to inspire and be inspired, to challenge and be challenged. Our team was a diverse mix of individuals with varying backgrounds and strengths, and it was my responsibility to harness this collective power and guide us towards our shared goals.

One of the most valuable lessons I learned as a team leader was the power of collective intelligence. At Proakatemia, we firmly believed that the wisdom of the group far surpassed that of any individual. Our weekly team business meetings and Paja’s were like melting pots of ideas, perspectives, and possibilities. It was a safe space for everyone to freely express their thoughts, knowing that each voice mattered and contributed to our growth.

But being a team leader was not always smooth sailing. There were times when we faced setbacks, disagreements, and doubts. It was during these moments that my role became even more crucial. As a leader, I had to be the anchor that kept us grounded, the motivator that pushed us forward, and the problem-solver that found creative solutions. It was a delicate balance between leading and serving, knowing when to take charge and when to step back and let the team shine. On this part, I honestly admit that because of my present financial situation. I must juggle with my busy schedule and must endure the balancing act of serving the team and meeting my own financial needs. Nevertheless, I humbly admit that I lack the time management and the capacity to sustain such rigorous task for both.

Looking back, the role of team leading at Proakatemia was not just about achieving tangible results, but about personal development as well. It was within the boundaries of my team that I discovered my own potential, honed my communication skills, and learned the art of emotional intelligence. With constant feedback from my team members pushed me to continuously improve, to reflect on my actions, and to adapt my leadership style.

With a positive mindset, I carry with me the invaluable lessons that I learned as a team leader. The realization that leadership is not about the title or position, but about creating an environment where everyone can thrive. It is about empowering others to become the best versions of themselves, fostering a sense of ownership and accountability among the team.

In this reflection, I find myself forever grateful for the opportunity to have been given a chance to lead as a team leader at TEAM KAAOS. The journey was not always easy, but it was worth every challenge and triumph. Proakatemia taught me that leadership is not about being the hero, but about cultivating a team of heroes who believe in their potential and have the courage to chase their dreams.
